![]() ![]() Generally spoken, OS updates also shouldn't have any effect on this function, since support for EyeTV remotes works solely on the basis of direct communication between Remote Buddy and EyeTV - without involvement of any OS drivers.ġ) that support for AdHoc receivers is turned on at "Prefs > General > Advanced." and that you haven't turned it off (it's on by default)Ģ) EyeTV is running when you use the remote. I've tried to reproduce the problem using Remote Buddy 1.16.6 / EyeTV 3.4.3 / OS X 10.6.5, but couldn't. Thanks everybody for their feedback regarding EyeTV Remote / OS X 10.6.5. I CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT IT!! :p That said, if anyone figures out a fix, please post it! Let me know if there are any other details I can provide about my version of the problem. I use it for EyeTV, Boxee, and various other apps on my HDTV. So maybe it's not just Remote Buddy that's been crippled by this update. Mira DOES seem to recognize the Manta (I did some USB plugging and unplugging, and watched it appear and disappear from the menu), but my Apple Remote doesn't seem to work through IT, either. ![]() I tried re-installing Mira, too, just to see if that still worked. ![]() Like you, I checked the System Profiler, and the "eHome Infrared Transceiver" DOES appear under USB, so it IS recognized by the OS, and is getting power. When I auto-updated OS X Snow Leopard from 10.6.4 to 10.6.5 yesterday, Remote Buddy stopped recognizing my Manta TR1 transceiver. I run a 2006 Mac Pro w/ Remote Buddy, an Apple Remote, and a Manta TR1 transceiver (purchased from Twisted Melon when I bought Mira, but now of course I don't use Mira anymore, so it's long since uninstalled). I'm guessing that I have pretty much the same setup as yourself. Hi Laurance (and Felix too, cus you're a super attentive forum moderator - I can vouch for this from experience - and you always answer everyone's questions, so I just know you'll end up reading this *wink, wink*), This seems normal to me but I'm not totally sure. The Manta TR1 still shows up in the Apple System Profiler as follows: I installed 10.6.5 on my MacBook Pro and the built-in IR receiver still works fine so I know the remotes are good. I downloaded the Remote Control Diagnostics app and it says "No known Apple® IR Receiver found", however I don't really know if this app is supposed to see the Manta TR1 IR receiver so this may not tell us anything. The light on the TR1 lights up when I press buttons on any of the remotes I have, however nothing happens in any application I've tried. Immediately after the 10.6.5 update the remote is no longer working in Remote Buddy or Plex. I have a Mac Pro with a Manta TR1 IR receiver that's been working fine for the past few years. It can locate issues with a single click and will provide you with information about the issue as well as with instructions on how you can fix it. In order to make locating and fixing the cause of such issues as easy and efficient as possible, we've developed a free diagnostics tool: Remote Control Diagnostics. It's located elsewhere and can also only be solved there.Īlthough our products can't cause any such issues, we're regularly contacted about such issues and asked for help. ![]() Instead, the cause of the issue exists independently of Remote Buddy. Therefore Remote Buddy is neither the cause of the issue nor is it responsible for it. However, as soon as you quit Remote Buddy, the OS X Apple® Remote subsystem is back in control and any issues caused in it by other applications become visible. For as long as you're running Remote Buddy, issues like this are covered by Remote Buddy and it's driver and are therefore not visible to you. If other applications don't use the interface to the OS X Apple® Remote subsystem correctly, this can lead to the effect that nothing happens when you press a button on your Apple® Remote. As soon as you quit Remote Buddy, this task is again handled by the OS X Apple® Remote subsystem. In contrast, all other applications with integrated Apple® Remote support usually use the OS X Apple® Remote subsystem.Īs long as you're running Remote Buddy, Remote Buddy and its driver are responsible for turning the received button presses into actions. To enable you to use all capabilities of the IR Receiver of your Mac®, Remote Buddy is using its own driver. ![]()
